Can’t believe our baby is one year old! Can’t believe it’s been 4 months since Ava took over our lives!

Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!

It’s been a tough day for the girl. As soon as she got up, she had to deal with all the extra hugs and kisses and cuddles from mommy and dada. Then she came to dada’s office to ensure that we all went out for a birthday lunch (the yummy cheese tostada made it all worthwhile). After we got home she was so tired that she had to take a nap. If that wasn’t excitement enough, after she got up, she had a career choice to make! Career choice! At age 1? Phew…that was tough! But it was okay since she got to mutilate a freshly baked cake which she eventually figured out tastes good as well (only if eaten directly with the mouth)!

We did the Taiwanese tradition of putting a number of things in front of her and letting her choose one. Her choice supposedly points to her possible future career. Ava picked not one but two things – a phone receiver and a calculator, indicating that she will likely be in the Medical/Nursing or Finance industry. We think her future career points to Stock Broker but who are we to argue with tradition!

Enjoy these 4 videos of our baby – the first 2 she is faced with the tough decision of making a career choice, the next 2 with the tougher decision of eating her cake with her hands or directly with her mouth! Towards the end of the second video there is an explanation of what career each item represents.

A beautiful Indian dress! An Indian restaurant! That is how we celebrated Ava’s first birthday party.

Lots of people turned up for the party and we were worried that the restaurant would not be able to accomodate everyone. It turned out to be a non issue though, since guests kept trickling in to replace the ones that had to leave.

As you can see from the photos, Ava is looking absolutely adorable in a Chaniya Choli outfit and a Bindi on her forehead.
