Hi Nyna,

Thanks for the nice comment. I cannot answer your question if we are one of few Indian couples adopting a non-Indian Asian child but I do know that I have tried really hard to find another Indian couple to share our experiences but haven't been able to do so.

It was a big step for us too but the bigger concern was about our daughter adjusting to us. A taiwanese girl with Indian parents in US! I agree that Indians tend to be a little clannish but that was never the reason for our hesitancy. We wanted to pursue Latin American countries but the situation there is worse than in India. You said it right - Shame on the system!

Hi,

I finally had time to go through some of your online adoption journals. Ava looks really beautiful. I am very impressed at your decision to adopt from Taiwan. I think you must be one of the first or few Indian couples to adopt from another Asian country? Correct me if I am wrong. I do think we Indians tend to be a little clannish.

Yes, it is really tragic that there are so many abandoned kids in India and yet for whatever reasons they cannot be adopted. And there are so many couples out there who so desperately want a child and there are no babies available in the Indian orphanages. Shame on the system!
